Logistics Controller Duties

A Logistics Controller is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the movement of goods, materials, and supplies to ensure timely and accurate delivery while optimizing costs and maintaining compliance with regulations[5][6].

  • Coordinate and schedule the transport of products and spare parts, ensuring adherence to contractual and commercial terms (such as Incoterms)[5].

  • Oversee and maintain all necessary export/import documentation, compliance certifications, and customs declarations[5][6].
  • Review and update commodity codes; make necessary amendments within ERP systems for accurate reporting[5].
  • Lead U.K. import clearance processes and global remote collections from suppliers[5].
  • Negotiate costs with carriers, secure insurance, and manage freight invoice approvals in coordination with accounts payable[5][6].
  • Review carrier performance, participate in carrier meetings, and suggest efficiency improvements[5].
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders and foster clear communication across internal and external teams, ensuring everyone is informed of requirements, schedules, issues, or delays[4][6].
